China France Philanthropy Forum

On the occasion of the 60th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and France, the China-France Philanthropy Forum has been jointly initiated by the Ethno Philanthropy Fund and the Paris Peace Forum. The forum aims to promote civil exchange between the two countries and foster the mutual development of philanthropy. Both sides will establish a high-level advisory board and plan to hold the first meeting during the seventh annual Paris Peace Forum, scheduled for November 13, 2024, in Paris, to discuss the future development of the China-France Philanthropy Forum.

      Justin Vaïsse, Co-Secretary General, CFPF

      Founder and Director General of the Paris Peace Forum, Justin Vaïsse was the head of Policy Planning at the French Ministry of Foreign Affairs from 2013-2019. Justin Vaïsse also served as Director of Research at the Brookings Institution in Washington (2007-2013), with a focus on transatlantic relations and European foreign policy. A historian specialized in international relations and American foreign policy, Dr. Vaïsse has written and co-authored numerous books translated in multiple languages, and has held teaching positions at the Paris School of International Affairs of Sciences Po, and the School of Advanced International Studies at Johns Hopkins University.

      YUAN Jiakai, Co-Secretary General, CFPF

      YUAN Jiakai founded the Ethno Philanthropy Fund in November 2023, aiming to connect Chinese philanthropists with global partners. Prior to this, he was the China Chief Representative for United Way Worldwide, where he established UWW’s China office and secured the first overseas NGO license in Shanghai. Jiakai has held leadership roles at prominent nonprofits, including the Jet Li One Foundation, Youcheng Foundation, Rare Conservation, and WWF China. Earlier in his career, he worked in Credit Suisse’s Leveraged Finance Group in New York.

      In 2019, Jiakai was named a World Economic Forum Young Global Leader and received the “Future Leader of the Year” award from the American Chamber of Commerce Shanghai. Since 2020, he has been a career mentor, and capstone project industry mentor at Tsinghua University’s Schwarzman College.
